Step One: Choose your base software.

Knowledge or experience with XBRL is useful but not required to begin using GoFiler to prepare a document. Our expert team can show you how to tag a document in a matter of hours - or, if you prefer to learn on your own, we can provide you with training materials.

We do our best to develop intuitive tools that are easy to learn and easy to use. GoFiler’s functions help you locate and select XBRL elements from multiple taxonomies and provide you with the XBRL element labels, documentation, data types, and other information to guide your tagging process.

While GoFiler does have tools to automate tagging portions of a report, such as the cover page, the bulk of the XBRL element selection will be performed by the user, which helps to ensure data quality and accuracy. To expedite tagging of future reports, GoFiler also contains features to copy and paste XDX tagging and mapping, as well as apply element templates to disclosures.

No, the SEC XBRL Reporting Module does not contain integrated tools for submitting filings to the EDGAR Next system. EDGAR submission can be added to GoFiler+ by purchasing the EDGAR Standard Forms Module, which includes support for creating EDGAR projects for most EDGARLink Online submission types (such as 10-Q, 10-K, 20-F, 40-F, 8-K, S-1, etc.), attaching documents and exhibits, proofing and validating, and submitting filings directly to EDGAR Next. If you choose not to purchase any additional filing modules for your software, you can export your XBRL reports as inline XBRL or standard XBRL and attach them to a submission in the EDGAR filing software of your choice.
