SEC Announces Registration for Virtual 2023 Small Business Forum

The SEC’s Small Business Office has opened registration for its 42nd Annual Government-Business Forum on Small Business Capital Formation, which is held annually in accordance with the Small Business Investment Incentive Act of 1980. The forum is an event for members of the public and private sectors, including entrepreneurs, investors, and other leaders, to gather and discuss capital raising and develop suggestions for policy impacting emerging businesses and their investors. The remote event will take place Monday, April 24 through Thursday, April 27, with each 90-minute session beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET each day. {expires: 2023-04-28}

Speakers at the forum will present the following discussions:

  • April 24 – Exploring the Early-Stage Landscape: Trends and Strategies in Capital Raising
  • April 25 – Building Entrepreneurial Ecosystems: Laying the Groundwork to Support Small Businesses and Their Investors
  • April 26 – Investing in Small Business: Successes and Challenges Facing Smaller Funds
  • April 27 – Accessing the Public Markets: Becoming and Staying a Public Reporting Company

To promote more inclusive and organized discussions at this year’s event, participants are encouraged to submit comments and policy recommendations in advance via email to smallbusiness@sec.gov. Following the forum, the SEC will submit a report to Congress that includes an outline of the proceedings and recommendations for changes to improve capital formation. The 2022 Forum Report, which outlined the proceeding and recommendations of participants was released on July 28, 2022.

The event is free to attend and open to the public, but prior registration is required. Once interested parties are registered, instructions will be emailed on how to participate and how to submit feedback on the policy recommendations to be explored at the live event.

The forum’s website will be updated if there are changes or additions made to details on the agenda, speakers, registration, or FAQs leading up to the event.
