On March 11th, XBRL US hosted a webinar to review and discuss matters related to financial reporting for Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (SPACs). The session featured an overview of the related final rule, a demonstration of XBRL tagging requirements for SPACs, and a review of SPAC filings submitted to date.
In January 2024, the SEC adopted the final rule, Special Purpose Acquisition Companies, Shell Companies, and Projections, under which SPACs were first required to prepare prospectus disclosures and financial information in Inline XBRL (a structured, machine-readable, and standardized format) for IPOs and de-SPAC transactions beginning June 2025.
