SEC Staff Announces Agenda For May 31 FinTech Forum

On April 24th, the SEC announced the agenda for its May 31st forum that will discuss distributed ledger technology and assets. This conference, which is the 2019 FinTech Forum, will be held by the SEC’s Strategic Hub for Innovation and Financial Technology (FinHub) and will begin at 9:30 am EST in Washington, DC at the SEC’s Headquarters. It will be open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis.


A Calendar

The four panels will consist of the following:


Panel 1: Capital Formation Considerations

Panelists include: Paul Brody from Ernst & Young, Joshua Ashley Klayman from Klayman LLC, and Aaron Wright from the Cardozo Law School. Moderating the panel will be Jonathan Ingram, Chief Legal Advisor of FinHub.


Panel 2: Trading and Markets Considerations

Panelists include: David Forman from Fidelity Brokerage Services, Mark Wetjen from DTCC, and Neha Narula from the MIT Media Lab. Moderating the panel will be Elizabeth Baird, Deputy Director, Division of Trading and Markets.


Panel 3: Investment Management Considerations

Panelists include: Jay Baris from Shearman & Sterling LLP, John D’Agostino from DMS, and Amy Steele from the Deloitte. Moderating the panel will be Jennifer McHugh, Special Senior Counsel, Division of Investment Management.


Panel 4: Distributed Ledger Technology Innovations: Industry Trends and Specific Use Cases for Financial Markets

Panelists include: Christopher Ferris from IBM, Todd McDonald from R3, and Kevin Werbach from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Moderating the panel will be Scott Walker, Special Counsel, FinHub.


While no registration is required to attend the event, guests are recommended to arrive with photo identification and encouraged to factor in time for security screening in their attendance plans. A live webcast will also be available on the SEC’s website.
