On September 15th, FERC Chairman Neil Chatterjee announced a new joint venture with Virginia Tech to co-host the next annual EnVision Forum. The two organizations hope the conference will provide an opportunity to explore the technology-driven concerns challenging the energy industry.
This second annual conference will gather together innovators, universities, government partners, and corporate entities to share and generate ideas. The event will take place in spring 2021 on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA, and will welcome two partnering technology centers: the Power and Energy Center and the Center for Power Electronics Systems.
For the EnVision 2021 event, FERC and Virginia Tech are coming together to create an exciting itinerary of talks focusing on the future of electric energy for an industry in transition. The organizations plan to explore major technological improvements being made in and around the energy industry with special focus on topics including:
- Regulations in grid security and resilience
- Electrical energy systems of the future
- Technology and security in the digital age
- A changing generation mix and its associated regulatory issues
- New platforms for partnership and innovation
